Ray Williams. Ray has been the Steward at the Club for the last 20 years. He completed 20 years service on the 26th of April 2008 when an evening of entertainment was held to celebrate. Many will not realise the amount of work that Ray puts in behind the scenes. He is integral to all the committees, other than Membership; his input is essential as he is the person who is there for the majority of the time and knows the trends, patterns and general feeling of the members of our Club. The Entertainments Committee are responsible for the entertainments in general, but it is Ray who books the acts and takes the flack from them when we need to cancel or rearrange - as well as from our members when (rarely!) the acts are not as good as we had hoped.
There are not many in our Club who has not at some time sat down and had a chat with Ray. He is the typical Steward, very knowledgeable on all subjects but an expert on trains and boats. Much of the ambience of the Club emanates from his positive attitudes. E-mail: ray.williams@maidenheadconclub.co.uk
Viv Williams. As with all good stewards Ray is ably supported by his wifve. Viv has taken on several roles that were Ray’s responsibility, by assisting in some of the financial aspects, staff selection and training and numerous other aspects, to relieve Ray from some of the chores. Viv assists the Entertainments Committee, by preparing the monthly pamphlets to inform members what is going on at the Club.Obviously Viv has also completed 20 years service on the 26th April. Viv does a lot of hard work away from the gaze of the general members, but does so tirelessly and on many occasions getting no reward other than the satisfaction of helping Ray and the Club. You may find Viv behind the bar on several nights assisting Ray, but on many of these nights when Viv serves you, it could be on the nights that she is only down there to be with Ray and not actually on duty; this does not stop her from serving our members if they require it. E-mail: viv.williams@maidenheadconclub.co.uk
We on the Committee urge you to support your Club,; it is only with the ongoing support of members that the Club can thrive.
